Detroit and Dallas dote on The Social Network

"The Social Network" received "Best Picture" honors twice over today, inching closer to an almost-shut-out sweep of the regional awards.

Alright, I should just make these awards posts into a series titled something like, “Friends of The Social Network” because

"The Fighter" was also a multi-award winner, receiving 4 awards.

this is getting predictable. Yet again, The Social Network received the “Best Picture” win from both the Dallas and Detroit film critics groups. DFCS (Detroit) gave Danny Boyle the “Best Director” prize, a surprise considering David Fincher or Darren Aronofsky have grabbed most of those so far. DFWFCA (Dallas-Fort Worth) gave Boyle’s star James Franco the “Lead Actor” trophy, which contrasts with DFCS’ pick of Colin Firth (The King’s Speech). Again, both split for “Lead Actress” — DFCS going for Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone) and DFWFCA giving Natalie Portman (Black Swan) top honors. Christian Bale, from The Fighter, won the “Supporting Actor” prize from both. And while Detroit and Dallas-Fort Worth handed out “Supporting Actress” wins to The Fighter as well, they split, with Dallas awarding Amy Adams and Dallas-Fort Worth going for Melissa Leo.
